Defects of Vision and Correction- Grade X (CBSE)
Defects of vision and correction
Let's understand the concept, with the help of the following conversation:
Joe: Dad as you are watching the news, let me know if there is a holiday tomorrow. I am not able to read the scrolling.
Dad: Me too, dear son. Get me my spectacles
Joe: Why is it so Dad?
Dad: I am suffering from Myopia. I am facing the difficulty in seeing the distant objects.
Joe: How does your spectacles resolve the issue?
Dad: Yes, the Ophthalmologist has checked my power and suggested me to use concave lens, that corrects my defect accurately. I think there is a need to take you to an ophthalmologist too.
Joe: Sure Dad. But Dad, why do you make use of different spectacles while reading the news paper.
Dad: That is because I have Hypermetropia also. I am also facing difficulty in seeing near by objects.
Joe: Why not the same spectacles serve the purpose?
Dad: No, Convex lens will correct the defect rather than concave.
Joe: Instead of using two separately can you get only one.
Dad: Definitely I can get single spectacles with bifocal lens. I need to adjust the lens up and down, as per the need.
Joe: Oh, is it!
Dad: Yes. And it's a holiday for you tomorrow.
Joe: Hurray! Thank you Dad. Let's take the doctor's appointment tomorrow.
